About Kayla T

Saaaa-weet. Artistic. And, amazing. These are just a few words to describe one of the one of country's most talented young pastry chefs, Kayla T. She went from making cupcakes in her Holly Hobbie oven as a kid to being an ultra-important member on the Immaculate Baking Co. team who broke the record for baking the world's biggest chocolate chip cookie weighing in at 40,000 pounds and measuring larger than a basketball court! Her next goal is to bake the world's largest (and most delish) wedding cake for her own wedding next summer. Pretty sweet, huh?

Q & A

Job:

Student at the Scottsdale Culinary Institute and Pastry Chef at the Roaring Fork

Favorite Food:

Now that's a tough question for a foodie girl—my list is practically endless (and my stomach bottomless). But a few faves are homemade tortilla soup and bread pudding. But my dessert list goes on. I do have quite the sweet tooth ya know.

Favorite TV Show(s):

Iron Chef, Hell's Kitchen, and the Simpsons (I think only Homer loves donuts more than I do :)).

Favorite Actor(s):

Johnny Depp & John Krasinski ("Jim" from the Office)

Favorite Hobby(s):

Well, I have to be pretty active to burn off all the yummy foods I make each day, so I like to hit up a good spin class or do pilates in between school and work. But when it comes to the weekend, I'm all about hosting fun dinner parties for friends (I love being the hostess with the mostest. LOL!)

Favorite Video Game:

Lumines 2 & Okami

Why I love my job:

My job as a pastry chef is like the icing on the cake. Sure, it's still a job and cooking school is still school, but it's the best (and tastiest) part of both worlds. Everyone smiles when you make them a cake or bake them something special. My favorite part? When I whip up something really tasty and my clients (and friends) keep coming back for more. It's a warm fuzzy feeling I'm hooked on, for sure.
